Daily Outline

At Dragonfly Healing & Learning Center, we prioritize the whole child.

We start each morning with a  Morning Circle and Blessing. We discuss the daily schedule for that day, doing a check in and see how everyone is doing. Then, together we say a little prayer for the day and a breathing exercise or short meditation. Opening our hearts in prayer attracts love into our day. Beginning the day with meditation is a good habit to clear the mind, and calm the body so that learning is easy.

Exercise is also very important and it is one of the first things to be cut in public education. Some of our yoga and P.E. time will be hosted by a special guest. We will be following a Language Arts and Math curriculum, but not CA Common Core. We value movement. Learning through play and at the student’s paces.

Gather together to start off our day with a calendar and the daily schedule, a short prayer/breathing/meditation practice.

Movement to get our brains ready to learn!

We provide a snack. Sometimes we make our snack together!

My favorite part of the day! I love grammar and introducing academic vocabulary at an early age. We will read books, watch videos and practice writing.

This will be weather dependent, but student-led free play!

Return together with a quick breathing exercise that will vary and a gratitude practice.

Curriculum that uses review as a warm up! This will be at the student’s pace and ability level, not necessarily their age.

Together we eat our lunch from home.

This will be weather dependent, but student-led free play! Games will be introduced periodically.

Some stations are mandatory and others optional. I would like to have guest teachers come in to teach a skill periodically!

Together we gather and talk about our day and anything that came up that we would like to explore or share. Students may share something from home on Fridays.

Students may finish anything that is not complete from the day, coloring, outdoor play and activities, reading, drawing, and exploring.

*This outline is tentative and does not include Field Trips and excursions.
